Workforce Investment Act—is a unique national workforce preparation and employment system designed to meet both the needs of businesses, job seekers and those who want to further their careers.
For Job Seekers
If you are an unemployed, motivated individual seeking full time employment, the WIA Adult program may be able to assist in your employment and training needs. This is a federally funded, income-based program, but it is not an entitlement program. Enrollment is based on meeting income guidelines and contingent on follow through/participation requirements. To apply for the program you must be at least 18 years old and males must be registered with Selective Service. Our services include:
- Career counseling
- Resume review
- Mock interview
- Job referrals
- On-the-Job training
- Short-term educational/vocational assistance
- Support services, such as books/supplies, groceries, fuel, clothing and uniforms
For eligible participants we can provide tuition assistance for short-term vocational training, such as Commercial Driving License, Cosmetology, Forklift Certification, Certified Nursing Assistant, Computer classes and other approved training. We also offer tuition assistance to students completing their last 2 quarters prior to graduation who will be immediately joining the workforce. We give you the tools you need to obtain a rewarding job in our community.
For Employers
Often, businesses pass up applicants that look great but lack some specific skill/skills for their workplace. To help offset the additional costs of training these potential employees, we offer On-the-Job training incentives.
